My primary goal for this class is to refine my critical thinking skills regarding judicial decision-making and its implications on public policy. Additionally, I expect to enhance my ability to analyze complex legal arguments and articulate these analyses effectively.

While exploring the U.S. Supreme Court’s official website, I found the sections on “History and Traditions” and “The Supreme Court Building” particularly enlightening. It was surprising to learn about the “Justices’ Conference,” where decisions are made without aides, a tradition emphasizing the solemnity and confidentiality of their deliberations (History and Traditions, n.d.). Equally intriguing was the architectural symbolism of the Supreme Court Building, designed to embody the ideals of justice and integrity, reinforcing the gravity and independence of the judicial process (The Supreme Court Building, n.d.).

How do you think that this new-to-you information might help you to think critically about the Supreme Court’s role in facilitating solutions to complex societal legal problems?
